BRUSSELS – The European Chemicals Agency has proposed 15 new candidate candidate substances of very high concern (SVHC). 
 
The agency issued a release stating a 45-day consultation period would begin today for selection of the next set of candidate substances of very high concern.
 
After the 45-day period, ECHA and the member states will review comments and decide on the final list of candidate SVHCs, which will immediately be reportable under Article 33 of REACH, in addition to the previous list of 15 substances.
 
New additions are expected twice per year, says Design Chain Associates, an environmental consulting firm.

REDMOND, WA – Prototron Circuits has named Todd Schmelling to manage its sales efforts in the Southwest region. He will report to Russ Adams, West Coast regional sales manager.

Schmelling brings extensive experience in PCB sales, having worked for companies including Intelec, Isola and Continental Circuits.

SURREY, B.C. – It’s back to business for PCB fabricator Canadian Circuits Inc. after a small fire neared the plating department this past Saturday. No injuries were reported.

The plating department will be inoperable for a few weeks due to smoke damage, but local backup shops will be able to process orders immediately, according to Praveen Arya, president and owner.

“We expect to be back to 100%, including plating, in a very short time,” he adds.

Customers are being notified and can expect their orders on time; the company’s contact information remains the same.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – R&D Circuits has purchased a Schmoll MX-1 DH CCD drill.

The MX-1 DH CCD is a single station system that is equipped with high-speed linear motors in the x-, y- and z-axis and dual spindles. It also has an inventory of 2600 tools.
