SANTA ANA, CA – TTM Technologies Inc. will close its plants in Hayward and Los Angeles, CA, as commercial PCB and backplane demand continues to fall in North America.

The Los Angeles plant that employs 263 full-time employees produces primarily commercial PCBs. Production will move to TTM plants in Utah, Wisconsin and California.

Backplane assembly and system integration production at the Hayward facility will transfer to plants in Shanghai, China and Stafford Springs, CT. The closure will affect 84 workers.

Separation and other benefits will be offered to the employees, the cutbacks represent 11% of TTM’s workforce.

The company forecast $11 million to $14 million in impairment, separation and other charges related to the restructuring. TTM plans to sell some of the equipment and property and expects an annual cost savings near $14 million.

Excluding asset impairment charges and closure costs, the company is on track to meeting third-quarter guidance of $134 million to $142 million. TTM is the largest PCB manufacturer in North America, focusing on quick-turn and technologically advanced PCBs, as well as backplane and sub-system assembly.
