The BoardMaster 8000 PLUS diagnostic system delivers claimed improved productivity in testing and diagnosis of analogue, digital or mixed signal PCBs.

The test system allows storing of instrument settings, test procedures, measurements and results for a known good PCB, then runs an automated test and comparison procedure a test PCB, highlighting any fault and its location.

The company states that the product is PC controlled, with five ABI instrument modules (standard), and features include digital and analogue functional IC testing, digital storage oscilloscope, floating digital multimeter, function generator, frequency counter, variable power supply and universal I/O.

Sunjet, the inkjet ink division of Sun Chemical, has announced the development of silver nano-particles ink designed for conductive films.

The company has partnered with a recognized leader in the manufacture of nano-particle silver, dispersing the silver particles such that jetting properties can be achieved.

Nigel Caiger, company director of digital technology, said: “The initial products are based around 20 and 40 weight percent silver content. The inks can be sintered at very low temperatures, below 150C, which is critical for some printed electronics applications.”

Peter Walshe, SunJet’s sales business development manager, said: “We have identified a number of applications for highly conductive metal films and have already attracted a large number of partners seeking to use our capability.”

OptoTherm's new EL thermal imaging system enclosure provides a claimed stable test environment from the ambient environment, and blocks air currents generated by heating and air conditioning ducts that can influence the thermal patterns shown by its infrared camera inspection system.

A motorized camera slide and controller position the camera for circuit board comparison and short circuit tests, and to verify PCB functionality. A platform with adjustable PCB locators enable repeatable positioning of board sizes up to 22" x 20".

The company states that the system features low cost and fast setup, with no custom hardware required, and that tests can usually be setup in less than an hour.

kDiagnostics embedded circuit board test tool software for MPC8544 and MPC8544E Freescale PowerQUICC III processors allows claimed embedded functional testing and fault isolation for processors and circuit board designs.

Features of the MPC8544E supported by kDiagnostics reportedly include: e500 Core, L1 Instruction Cache, L1 Data Cache, DDR/DDR2 Controller, Local Bus Controller, Programmable Interrupt Controller, DUART, two eTSEC Controllers (10/100/1000), PCI, PCI Express, and the DMA Controller. Standard hardware test suites also include focus, flow, and stress testing for USB, SATA, Gigabit Ethernet, and other components.

Other features of the kDiagnostics release include port to port Ethernet testing, remote communications over a local area network, protected image transfers to reject corrupted images, and improved user guides for test methodologies and test execution.

JTAG Technologies has released the JT 2147/AGP for use with Aeroflex in-circuit testers (ICTs), allowing the 4200 Series systems to be interfaced with JTAG's boundary-scan controller.

The JT 2147/AGP allows boundary-scan test access port (TAP) signals within the ICT system for claimed improvement in signal integrity and simplified fixture design. The company claims that the JT 2147/AGP can be installed on the Aeroflex GPIO custom interface module to provide ground isolation plus a switching matrix to route TAP signals to pins on the test fixture.

Users of integrated JTAG Technologies products benefit from claimed off-line, fixtureless test preparation and the re-use of stand-alone applications at other stages of the product life cycle such as prototyping and field service, with increased cost-effectiveness through reduced test fixture complexity.

DesignAdvance Systems, Inc., has announced the release of CircuitProbe, which enables bi-directional communication, through IPC, between layout and a PDF of the schematic.

The company claims that the tool gives designers and engineers the ability to select design elements in either Cadence Allegro Viewer environment in or a PDF of the schematic, and have the corresponding design elements selected in the other application.

"As a current DesignAdvance customer, we see the combined solution ... adding value throughout our entire PCB design cycle," stated Greg Bodi, of NVIDIA Corporation.
