Intercept Technology, Inc. introduced three new products, DrawingX, QCX and ReleaseX. The suite works in conjunction to fully automate the post-processing of completed designs—from quality control checks to the production of drawing packages to the creation of release packages for final delivery.
 
According to the company, DrawingX allows users to fully automate drawing package creation, saving time and resources, and has options such auto-dimensioning and auto-generation of standard notes. QCX sustains a comprehensive rules set of ERCs, MRCs and DRCs that are specifically tailored to meet manufacturer’s needs. ReleaseX reduces the creation of design files, and output files can be posted on a user-specified FTP site.

Fujipoly America introduced thermal interface caps that are designed to transfer the heat generated by transistors to nearby heatsinks. The slide-on thermal interface caps are available in multiple lengths and material thicknesses and are molded to fit TO-220 and TO-3P transistors. The caps have a thermal conductivity ranging from 1.2 to 1.7W/mºK and a thermal resistance between 0.42 and 1.35º Cin²/W, depending on which Sarcon material is chosen.

Zontec Inc. introduces the Synergy 200A, a mini-notebook computer with real-time statistical process control (SPC) software application. The computer weighs 2.2 lbs. and has a 9 inch SVGA monitor, and it comes pre-loaded with the company’s entry-level Synergy SPC software, designed for data collection, charting, process monitoring, analysis and reporting of an unlimited number of variable characteristics. Users also have complete access to the Internet, e-mail, word processing and spreadsheets, as well as presentation software and business applications that can be easily installed. A 10/100 ethernet and 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi wireless connectivity is included.

Fico, a member of the Besi Group, has achieved a 40x performance enhancement with the development of a laser PCB depaneling system. This machine employs lasers to cut PCBs and memory cards. Because of the laser’s thin cuts, users are able to put 85% more components on the same area versus cuts made by a traditional router. A glass window protects the optics, and a dust chamber prohibits the laser light from escaping, as well as prevents the operator from ingesting harmful dust and smoke.
 
The performance of the laser depaneling system was improved by the implementation of  EFD.Pro fluid dynamics analysis software from Flomerics. The EFD.Pro was able to customize the airflow around the depaneling tool, reducing downtime associated with dust accumulation. After the customization customers reported 11 hours of non-stop production, and the companies claims there is room for further optimization and improvements using the Flomerics modeling tool.
