BOSTON -- The largest printed circuit fabricators in the US are offering a slightly improved outlook on the state of defense spending, according to their recent quarterly statements.

LEOBEN, AUSTRIAAT&S reported fiscal 2014 sales of EUR 590 million, up about 9% year-over-year. The fabricator saw higher demand in both its handheld devices and industrial and automotive segments.

ST. LOUIS -- Viasystems Group announced a first-quarter net loss of $9.4 million, an improvement from a year ago when the PCB fabricator lost $13.3 million.

YAVNE, ISRAEL -- Orbotech said first quarter revenue rose 9.7% from a year ago to $104.8 million, and net income rose 26% to $6.3 million.

IRVINE, CA -- MFlex reported fiscal second quarter net sales fell 32% year-over-year to $117.8 million as sales to its largest customer plunged. The net loss widened to  $52.4 million, down from a loss of $23.9 million in the prior year.
