AURORA, CO -- Advanced Circuits, the third-largest printed circuit board fabricator in North America, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this month. The fabricator, which was launched in April 1989, has grown from a five-person board shop to over 500 employees in three facilities across the US.
"Advanced Circuits has experienced consistent growth since its establishment in 1989 and currently occupies a dominant market position with the industry’s largest customer database,” said president and CEO John Yacoub. “With all the recent mergers and acquisitions in our industry, Advanced Circuits now stands as the largest 100% fully US-based printed circuit board manufacturer. We believe in strengthening the US PCB industry; however, our continuing success would not be possible without our loyal customer base.”
Advanced Circuits had sales in 2013 of $87.4 million, up 3.9% year-over-year. Operating income slid 4.6% to $22.9 million.
Although several PCB companies headquartered in the US are larger than Advanced Circuits, only TTM and Sanmina are thought to generate more revenue onshore.
Advanced Circuits was formed in 1989 following the acquisition of Denver-area Seiko Circuits. It is now owned by Compass Holdings, which acquired the fabricator for $81 million in 2006. In March 2010, it added Circuit Express in Tempe, AZ, for approximately $16.1 million, and two years later acquired Universal Circuits in Minnesota for approximately $2.3 million.
In the past five years Advanced Circuits has invested $15 million in new equipment for all three facilities and a new 52,000 sq. ft. building expansion at the corporate office in Aurora, CO.
“Our customer base has grown year after year since inception, adding just shy of 9,000 new companies during the last four years. We take pride in serving customers and providing excellent customer service,” said Yacoub.
