WEST HAVEN, CT – The American Association for Laboratory Accreditation approved accreditation for the Enthone Automotive Science Corrosion Lab in the field of mechanical testing.

The Enthone ASCL is now accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 to perform the following tests on metals, plastics and other metalized substrates, including such applications as fasteners, bolts, chains, connectors and wheels: neutral salt spray; copper accelerated salt spray; corrodkote; cyclic corrosion testing; humidity testing; thermal cycle, and STEP and coating thickness.

Enthone is a business of Cookson Electronics. The company supplies specialty chemicals and coatings.

TOKYOFurukawa Electric Co. said it would raise output capacity for electrolytic copper foil used in circuit boards by 30% in 2013.

It will invest 5.9 billion yen to lift capacity at subsidiary Furukawa Circuit Foil Taiwan Corp. by 400 tons to a monthly 1,200 tons in January 2013. Including the monthly 500 tons of circuit board copper foil produced at a Tochigi Prefecture plant, this will give the firm a total capacity of 1,700 tons a month in 2013.

The global market for copper-clad laminates is expected to grow 10% annually to around 900 billion yen in 2015, the firm says.
