TAIPEI -- Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) reported first quarter sales rose 34% year-over-year as the world's largest electronics manufacturing services provider brushed off sourcing problems stemming from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
For the period ended March 31, the company's revenues of NT$554 billion ($19.1 billion) rose 33.6% from a year ago. Sales were down 23% sequentially, on usual seasonality.
For the month, the EMS and printed circuit board firm reported overall sales of NT$214.9 billion (US$7.3 billion), up 40.6% from February. March revenues were up 37% year-over-year.
Foxconn is the world's largest provider of most computer and handheld devices, including Apple's iPads, iPods and iPhones.
