ANAHEIM, CA -- DDi reported third-quarter net income shot up to $6.5 million from $249,000 a year ago as the company benefited from stronger demand and the integration of its acquisition of Coretec.

WILMINGTON, DEDuPont’s Electronics and Communications segment reported third-quarter sales of $703 million, up 30% year-over-year. 

Pre-tax operating income was $126 million, up 64% compared to the same period last year. The unit includes the former Rohm & Haas printed circuit board chemicals group.

Volume was up 24%, driven by growth in all regions, particularly in Asia Pacific and Europe.

Photovoltaic sales were up 83%.  

The firm expects a normal seasonal decline in demand for the fourth quarter.

SINGAPORE – PCB maker Compeq Manufacturing returned to profit in the third quarter with net income of $3.6 million. The firm registered losses in the previous five quarters.

MIDLAND, MIDow Chemical said third-quarter net income fell 25% year-over-year to $597 million, as sales of specialty products and commodity plastics increased.

ARUNDEL, UK -- An upcoming SMART Group workshop will look at benefits and disadvantages of ENIG, OSP, immersion silver, tin and solder leveling as finish options for printed circuit boards.

The Nov. 23 session will review performance during PCB fabrication and assembly, plus some of the common process problems. The impact on long term storage of PCBs also will be discussed. The workshop will include a tour of the Merlin/Artetch circuit board factory.
