TORONTO – Robert Olsen has resigned as chairman of the board of Coretec Inc. He had served on the board since 1999; holding positions as director, lead director and chairman.
 
Olsen recently became a national partner with Deloittes and will be responsible for the company’s capital advisory business. As a result, he cannot participate on the Coretec board.
 
“He’s played a key role in guiding the business through various financings, acquisitions, consolidations and macroeconomic challenges,” said Paul Langston, president of Coretec. Langston will serve as interim chairman until the annual general meeting in May.

WEST HAVEN, CT – Ggp-Schaltungen GmbH has received approval from Sartorius AG to supply Enthone OrmeSTAR Ultra nanofinish.
 
The organic metal-based final finish is an alternative to ENIG and other metallic finishes, reducing process time by 75%.
 
Sartorius, located in Göttingen, Germany, is a worldwide producer of electronic components and devices. Ggp-Schaltungen, located in Osterode/Harz, Germany, has been working with Ormecon GmbH, a business of Enthone, to achieve approval of the nanofinish.

MESA, AZ – DYCONEX Inc. has received its International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) registration.
 
Awarded by the US Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, ITAR controls the export and import of defense-related articles and services on the United States Munitions List.
 
“DYCONEX strove for the ITAR registration as a keystone to continuously serve the US market, demonstrating the company’s commitment of being a valued partner to the US military industry,” said Thomas Jacob, regional manager.

TAIPEI, TAIWAN – Unimicron reported fourth-quarter consolidated sales fell 20% to NT$10.26 billion (US$294 million), and the company is predicting first-quarter losses, according to DigiTimes.
 
Non-operating losses for the quarter were over NT$490 million (US$14 million), with NT$415 million in inventory depreciation and NT$80 million (US$2 million) in interest payments. The company reported over NT$120 million (US$3 million) in investment losses.
 
According to Tsai-Sheng Shen, company spokesperson, sales are predicted to climb in February, but remain stagnant in March. Total capex for 2009 will be drop to NT$2 to $3 billion (US$58 to $87 million), compared to NT$7.1 billion (US$203 million) in 2008. First-quarter utilization rate will be under 50%.
