BIZERTE, TUNISIA -- Following a one-week disruption caused by mass revolts against the Tunisia government, Fuba Printed Circuits Tunisie's manufacturing operations here are "back to normal" and daily operations have resumed their optimal pace.
The company is situated in the northernmost city in Africa, on the Mediterranean coast. While Bizerte was one of several Tunisian cities affected by recent popular uprisings, ongoing demonstrations are peaceful, the company said, "without any incidence whatsoever nor on the economy nor on Fuba's activities."
The Fuba operation was back at full, continuous operation within one week of the initial turmoil, the company said in a statement. Temporary curfews put in place by the government have been lifted, the firm added.
By volume, February turned out to be the most productive month in company history, Fuba claimed. This followed a 34% hike in sales in 2010, a year in which the longtime printed circuit board fabricator invested some 3.3 million euros in new capacity and added nearly 100 workers to its payroll, bringing the total to 676.
Fuba said has 2011 bookings of 20 million euro and expects sales to rise at least 22% in 2011. The company plans additional investments of about 6 million euros in capacity and technology.
