CANBY, OR – Design engineers spoke, and Screaming Circuits listened. The company has introduced an online PCB layout tool to streamline the quote and the ordering processes, allowing engineers to devote more time to product development.

Users can input the number of components and nets and nodes into an online calculator that immediately provides a quote for PCB layout. Orders can be placed online as well.

In addition, the service provides layout files that can be sent directly to Sunstone Circuits for board fabrication, with board assembly occurring at Screaming Circuits.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA and FLORIANOPOLIS, BRAZIL – Fundação CERTI has implemented Valor Computerized Systems’ Trilogy DfM, vPlan, vManage and solutions.

CERTI is a private technology research and development organization, providing industrial and service companies with innovative and competitive technological solutions.

The company purchased the software in December of 2008 and installation was completed this March. The software covers the full manufacturing preparation and execution process, including DfM analysis of native CAD files, SMT part verification and component level materials management.

“The Valor solution will provide CERTI with complete real-time visibility and control over its manufacturing processes, as well as full traceability of components and materials. We expect to duplicate the success we have shared with CERTI at many other Brazilian electronics manufacturers,” said Dan Weitzman, Valor’s president of American operations.
PORTLAND, OR – Stilwell Baker Inc. named Bill Huhta regional sales director. He will be responsible for expanding the company’s customer base and presence in Washington, Idaho and British Columbia.

Prior to joining Stilwell, Huhta worked for companies including Tektronix, Micron and Nautilus. He has also established several sales organizations.

SAN JOSE, CA -- Cadence Design Systems, Inc. introduces a scalable co-design solution for designing FPGAs onto PCB systems. The FPGA Planner System (for OrCAD and Allegro) was developed by Taray Inc. and is available to Cadence customers through an exclusive OEM licensing agreement.

According to Cadence, the FPGA System Planner shortens the time it takes to integrate FPGAs on a PCB, enhances FPGA performance through the optimal utilization of FPGA resources and can reduce PCB manufacturing costs through a reduction in the number of PCB layers required to route dense, complex, large pin-count FPGAs.

“I tried other tools that promised to simplify the FPGA I/O complexity issue but none of these had an approach like Taray does,” said Roberto Cordero, GCSD Signal Integrity TMT Lead of Harris Corporation. “Taray's FPGA I/O synthesis technology is the only one that allows us to enter our design intent at the system level, and then it completely automates the pin assignment over multiple FPGAs all at once.”
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Altium has named Neutronics Components as its reseller in Canada.

The move is part of the company’s effort to increase its innovation and presence in Canada. A recent report by The Science, Technology and Innovation Council, the Canadian government’s advisory group, showed a weak commercial product and services base in the country.

Neutronics will sell the Altium Designer and desktop NanoBoard.
PORTLAND, OR – Hewlett Packard has selected Stilwell Baker Inc. (SBI) as an approved supplier for engineering services.

Stilwell Baker’s PCB layout engineers have been working with HP on inkjet printer projects including personal printers and very large/high speed web press printers.

Peter Hoogerhuis, COO of Stilwell Baker commented, “It’s a rigorous process, one that we’re pleased to have achieved as it allows us to continue to deliver on 10 years of success in designing boards for a premier electronic products company.”
