SANTA CLARA, CA – Power Design Services has received ISO 9001:2000 certification from BSI Management Systems.

Power Design has been manufacturing, assembling and designing PCBs and Flex Circuits for over two decades. “This recent achievement of the ISO 9001:2000 certification endorses our adherence to strict quality control in all of our systems and processes. We are delighted with this accomplishment and excited about finding ways to maintain and further improve what we deliver to our clients,” said Keith Schenk, VP of operations.


TAIPEI, TAIWAN – Although February should be a brighter month for makers of handset PCBs, they should prepare for first-quarter losses, according to DigiTimes.
 
A 5% to 10% sales growth is expected for the month, but utilization rates will only average 50% for the first quarter. Sales are forecasted to drop over 50%, reports DigiTimes.
 
Orders have slightly increased for Compeq Manufacturing, Unitech Printed Circuit Board and Unimicron Technology, but shipments are still expected to be lower than 2008 figures. Compeq should see an 11% decline in shipments to 160 million units, according to DigiTimes.

PLYMOUTH, MN – Tapco Circuit Supply and Schmid Systems Inc. have entered into a distribution agreement.
 
Tapco will be the exclusive source for Schmid’s open architecture wet process equipment systems in the United States. Schmid feels the partnership will strengthen its nationwide presence and increase its customer base, while providing the opportunity to expand into new growth markets such as thin-film photovoltaic.  
TEMPE, AZ – Circuit Express Inc. has received AS9100:2004 Rev B and ISO 9001:2000 certification.
 
Circuit Express began the certification process in September 2007, drafting over 200 controlled documents and logging over 300 hours of internal audits in total. The voluntary certifications illustrate the company’s adherence to documented processes and procedures, ensuring continued customer support.
MILPITAS, CA – Lenthor Engineering has received ISO 9001:2000 certification.
 
The company, which designs, manufactures and assembles RIGID-FLEX and FLEX printed circuit boards and EMS, also holds a MIL-P-50884 certification and is ITAR registered and certified.
TORONTO – Robert Olsen has resigned as chairman of the board of Coretec Inc. He had served on the board since 1999; holding positions as director, lead director and chairman.
 
Olsen recently became a national partner with Deloittes and will be responsible for the company’s capital advisory business. As a result, he cannot participate on the Coretec board.
 
“He’s played a key role in guiding the business through various financings, acquisitions, consolidations and macroeconomic challenges,” said Paul Langston, president of Coretec. Langston will serve as interim chairman until the annual general meeting in May.
