Semi Fab Orders, Purchases Up in Q3

SAN JOSE — Worldwide semiconductor manufacturing equipment orders rose 4% year-over-year to $9.32 billion in the third quarter, SEMI said. 

Orders were down 6% from the second quarter, the trade group added.

Billings reached $8.82 billion in the quarter, down 8% sequentially and up 15% from a year ago.

The data are gathered jointly by SEMI and the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ) from over 100 global equipment companies.

The quarterly billings data by region in billions of US dollars, quarter-over-quarter growth and year-over-year rates by region are as follows:
