BANNOCKBURN, IL – The North American printed circuit board market saw moderate decline in 2013, but moderate growth is forecasted through 2017, says IPC.

Data show onshore PCB production increased slightly last year, despite the market decline.

Among PCB product types, HDI/microvia boards experienced the highest growth rate for the year. Data on vertical markets for PCBs show communications and military/aerospace are the two largest PCB markets in North America, together accounting for approximately 57% of the market.

R&D spending projections are up substantially for 2014, the firm says.

The trade group has published its forecast in a new report based on data provided by Dr. Hayao Nakahara, author of the annual NTI-100 list of the largest board fabricators.
