STAMFORD, CT – Global PC unit sales are expected to grow 22% this year to 376.6 million units on ramped consumer buying, says
Gartner.
The research firm says revenues will rise up 12% from last year to $245.4 billion.
Home PC units are expected to rise 29.5%, while PCs in the workplace are expected to grow 13.1% this year.
As a result of aging PCs and the adoption of Windows 7, Gartner says larger businesses will refresh PCs in the second half of 2010, continuing in 2011. The Windows 7 migration is expected to last through 2012.
Netbooks are expected to rise 30% in 2010, accounting for 18.6% of mobile PCs; however, their share of the market is predicted to fall to 13.9% by 2014. Gartner says tablets could take away share from netbooks starting in 2013.
