Of the 15 substances on the REACH Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC), seven have also been recommended for inclusion on a list of substances subject to authorization (Annex XIV) by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).

Once added to Annex XIV, a substance cannot be sold on the European Union market 42 to 48 months after its inclusion date, unless authorized.

The electronics industry could be affected if three of the substances, DBP, BBP and DEHP, do make it onto Annex XIV because of their presence in cables and chords.
