Taiwan’s Sept. Manufacturing Production Index Down 1%

TAIPEI CITY, TAIWAN – In September, Taiwan recorded a manufacturing production index of 111.1, down 0.65% year-over-year and 3.53% sequentially, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, with 2016 as the base year.

For the month, IC and related posted a manufacturing production index of 140.47, up 5.44% year-over-year and 1.2% sequentially. TFT-LCD panel and component recorded an index of 106.91, down 9.72% compared to September 2018, and up 0.71% sequentially. Computers, electronics and optical products posted a monthly index of 152.27, an increase of 24.5% year-over-year and a decrease of 8.56% sequentially.

Based on a sample survey, 11.2% of companies across all manufacturing industries expect sequential output growth in October; 71.9% expect no change, and 16.9% expect a decrease.
