PELHAM, NH – The US Air Force has awarded PhotoMachining Inc. a Phase I Small Business Innovative Research grant.

“Innovative Methods for Automated Controlled Removal of Thermal Barrier Coatings and Bondcoats from Turbine Airfoils for Rework and Repair” is a nine-month effort to develop a laser-based removal process that removes TBCs from aircraft engine turbine airfoils at high speeds. 

Financial terms of the grant were not disclosed.

If successful, a Phase II contract will be pursued to commercialize the technology.

The technique has applications in high-speed hole drilling, coating removal and surface modification.

PhotoMachining performs laser micromachining and custom laser system integration.

WARRINGTON, PA -- Flexible Circuits Inc. has installed an Integrated Process Systems' plating system, the companies said today.

The installation included a dedicated preclean system, turnkey ventilation system and dedicated tin-plate system.

Utah-based IPS, the former VCM and Western Technology Associates, sells vertical and horizontal wet processing process equipment. 

Flexible Circuits manufactures circuit boards in a 55,000 sq. ft. facility in Warrington.

MILPITAS, CA – Printed circuit board fabricator Flex Interconnect Technologies today reported its 2009 revenue grew 6% year-over-year.

In addition, the privately held firm’s staff grew 11% during the year.

Company revenues have grown 10 out of its 11-year history at an aggregate growth rate of 41.5%, the company said in a press release.

FIT manufactures custom flex, rigid-flex and HDI circuits.
