ZHUHAI, CHINA -- Park Electrochemical's Nelco subsidiary will close its facility here and take a $3.2 million pretax charge.

Nelco Technology (Zhuhai FTZ) Ltd., located in the Zhuhai Free Trade Zone, plans to cease operations and liquidate, subject to government approvals. Park did not provide a reason for the closure.

Asian customers will be supported from Nelco's unit in Singapore, the firm said. Park doesn't expect to lose any business as result of the closure.

Park expects to record total pretax charges of approximately $3.2 million, including non-cash charges of approximately $2.4 million. The company will take $2.6 million of the charges in its fiscal second quarter ending Aug. 26.
