TAIPEI -- Taiwanese printed circuit board manufacturers forecast production to rise 4.9% year-over-year to NT$526 billion ($17.7 billion) on higher demand for mobile electronics, the Taiwan Printed Circuit Association says.

Smart TVs, telematics, smartphones, tablet PCs and ultrabooks will drive consumer electronics spending this year, TPCA and another trade group, the Industrial and Economic Knowledge Center, said.

In 2011, Taiwanese PCB fabricators combined for revenue of NT$501.5 billion, down 0.11% year-over-year in Taiwanese currency but up 7.34% in US currency.
