WATERBURY, CT -- In the face of higher metals prices, MacDermid today said its Advanced Surface Finishing division will implement a surcharge on selected products in Greater China.
The surcharges will go into effect Nov. 1, and are driven by the continuing upward trend in precious metal prices, the company said in a press release. The increases are temporary, the firm added.
MacDermid Advanced Surface Finishing president Michael Siegmund, said, "The implementation of a surcharge on selected products will allow us to offer our customers competitive pricing at all levels of precious-metal costs. While the immediate effect of these surcharges will be to increase pricing to our customers, these increases will be mitigated once precious metal pricing returns to historical levels."
MacDermid already employs a metal surcharge in its pricing structure in other parts of the world. The introduction of this surcharge will bring the China business in line with its practices in other geographies.
