TBBPA Demand on the Rise

BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND – The Tetrabromobisphenol-A (TBBPA) market is ramping up on increased demand, according to a recent report from MarketPublishers.com.

The brominated flame retardant is commonly used in circuit boards, in plastic applications and in acrylonitrile butadiene styrene. It provides flame retardancy for styrenic thermoplastics and some thermoset resins.

The European Union has approved its use in circuit boards and plastics with no significant health concerns.

Producers are increasing their bromine manufacturing capacity and productive efficiency of TBBPA; prices have increased by 10%.

The market research firm reports that Asia has the highest demand for TBBPA because of the large volume of PCBs and manufactured electronics components in the region.
