LEOBEN, AUSTRIA – AT&S hopes an investment and technology upgrade at its Shanghai and Chongqing plants will improve profitability, chief executive Andreas Gerstenmayer said, according to reports.

AT&S plans to produce 50,000 to 80,000 m2 of integrated circuit substrate annually in China after the Chongqing plant reaches maximum capacity in an effort to cut reliance on imports.

AT&S invested $507 million in the Chongqing facility in the fiscal year ended in March.
