SAN JOSE, CA – Cadence Design Systems reported second-quarter 2013 revenue of $362 million, up 11% year-over-year.
On a GAAP basis, the developer of design software for printed circuit boards and semiconductors recognized net income of $9 million, down 75% compared to the same period in 2012.
First-half PCB and IC packaging revenue was up more than 30% over 2012, boosted by the acquisition of Sigrity last year, Cadence said.
Other recent acquisitions include Tensilica, Cosmic Circuits and the IP business of Evatronix.
By geography, the Americas made up 45% of revenue, EMEA and Asia 21% each, and Japan 13%.
For the third quarter of 2013, the company expects total revenue in the range of $360 million to $370 million. For the year, Cadence expects total revenue in the range of $1.445 billion to $1.465 billion.
Lip-Bu Tan said the company is "cautiously optimistic" about PCB software sales, adding he is "very encouraged by the vertical market that's driving [it]."
