BELTSVILLE, MD – DfR Solutions said the Institute of Research and Development India (IRD India) has validated Sherlock Automated Design Analysis Software as the industry standard for accurate mechanical modeling and simulation of electronics.

In an independent study published in the International Journal on Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, Sherlock was used to perform PCB simulation for various load conditions to determine the failure of components on printed circuit boards.

In the paper “Determination of Mechanical Properties of PCB,” the importance of material properties in PCB analysis was discussed, and the effect of material property variation on PCB response was studied. The authors identified Sherlock’s capability to accurately predict the composite PCB properties through its internal laminate library and use of validated composite models.

The researchers concluded Sherlock was as, or more, accurate than equivalent simulation through Ansys.
