New Products

Altium Designer 17’s new features include ActiveRoute for designing printed circuit board layouts with guided routing technology; dynamic copper to modify copper polygon shapes; back drilling to reduce signal integrity disturbances on high-speed designs with control over drill hole specifications. Altium Vault 3.0 now features streamlined project releaser to add verified project snapshots with included design variants for fabrication and assembly; customized item manager automatching to synchronize projects and define parameters to update unmanaged assets with verified design data; expand templates to keep design projects standardized. Both are free upgrades to all subscription customers.

XFdtd 3D electromagnetic simulation software can now import flexible printed circuit board designs. PCB import dialog includes the option to wrap a design onto a form automatically during the import process. The wrap option conforms the PCB and its parts onto the flexible circuit geometry. Produces simulation-ready design in one step. Also includes dielectric volume averaging.

CST Studio Suite v. 17 electromagnetic (EM) simulation tool accurately simulates phenomena that appear when components are combined into systems. New features permit individual components to be combined and simulated effectively. Filter Designer 3D (FD3D), a design and synthesis tool for crosscoupled cavity filters, can design for arbitrary filter response with easy placement of transmission zeros and a wide range of coupling resonator topologies available to realize the corresponding filter response. Also extracts coupling matrix, which helps to analyze and tune a device, and includes diplexer filter synthesis. combined with moving mesh technology and advanced trust region framework optimizer, allows the design of complex high order and multimode cavity filters with unprecedented precision. Asymptotic solver, for analysis of very large platforms, introduces antenna-to-antenna coupling. Antennas can be imported as nearfield or farfield sources and integrated on the platform, and the asymptotic solver calculates coupling parameters between them. Combined with new nearfield monitor, identifies coupling paths between antennas efficiently, and the new Interference Task identifies potential EMC issues caused by co-site interference.
