SAN JOSE -- The 90-day moving average of worldwide semiconductor sales in October was flat sequentially but rose nearly 20% year-over-year, the Semiconductor Industry Association today reported.
For the month, the 90-day moving average sales were $26.3 billion, even with September. Sales increased 19.8% from October 2009, on demand for cellphones and consumer electronics.
Sales for the year through October were $248.2 billion, up 37% from 2009.
“As expected, we are experiencing moderation in sequential sales growth rates in line with seasonal patterns, a trend that will likely continue through year end,” said SIA President Brian Toohey. “Future growth will be increasingly driven by demand in developing markets where rapid adoption of semiconductor end-use products such as mobile devices and consumer electronics continues,” Toohey said.
