TAIPEI, TAIWAN – The first half of 2009 has been a rewarding one for Taiwan PCB makers. They posted solid profits and are ramping production as global demand for notebook PCs and LCD TVs rebounds.

Tripod Technology Corp. reported net profits of NT$842 million (US$25.51 million) for the first six months and a 147% climb in second-quarter profits. The third quarter is looking even better for the company, as seasonal demand is forecast to drive profits higher.

HannStar Board International Holdings reported first-half net profits of NT$425 million (US$12.88 million) with second-quarter net profit up 9.4% sequentially. It expects total capital spending in the range of NT$10 billion to NT$12 billion (US$303 million to US$363 million) for the year.

APCB Inc. posted NT$244 million (US$7.39 million) in net profits for the first half of 2009. It reported quarterly growth of 816% in second-quarter profits.
