YAVNE, ISRAEL – Orbotech Ltd. reported second-quarter revenue slipped 11% from last year to $94 million, but managed to climb 2% from $91.9 million last quarter.
For the first half of the fiscal year, revenue was $185.9 million, compared to $205.6 million year-over-year.
For the quarter ended June 30, net loss was $1.2 million, compared to a net income of $5.3 million last year, but an improvement over a net loss of $7.9 million last quarter.
For the first half, net loss was $9.1 million, compared to a net income of $9 million in 2008.
The company reported flat panel display (FPD) equipment sales down sequentially from $50 million to $41.4 million on a drop in new orders that started during the fourth quarter. Orbotech forecast increases in orders within the coming quarters as inventory continues to be depleted and customer demand picks up.
PCB equipment sales were $16.8 million, compared to $34.5 million last year and $10.6 million last quarter. The company cites a second-quarter jump in utilization at certain fabrication plants for the sequential growth.
Medical imaging equipment sales climbed from $3.7 million last quarter to $6.2 million. Year-over-year, sales climbed 41% from $4.4 million.
