SMYRNA, GA – PCB East opened its one-day exhibition last week in the Boston suburbs to an enthusiastic cross-section of electronics industry professionals.

Feedback from exhibitors was overwhelmingly positive to the return to Boston after three years away. Traffic was great, and the quality and quantity of leads was reported better than some other, larger shows exhibitors had attended earlier this year.

The electronics industry supply chain was well-represented by 50 exhibitors including EDA design tool and PCB design service providers; PCB fabrication and assembly companies; PCB fabrication materials suppliers; and allied electronics product and service suppliers. A complete list of exhibitors can be found at www.pcbeast.com.

“It was great to ‘hear the buzz’ from every corner,” said Jeff Seeger, CTO of Applied CAD Knowledge, Inc. and president of the IPC Designers Council Greater Boston Chapter. “PCB East provided a much needed opportunity for the design community to get together and check out the latest technology. Only PCB East brings exactly this audience together.”

PCB East has expanded its draw to include companies that are up- and downstream of the traditional EDA design tool and PCB design service providers. This has been changing over the past few years, as the requirements for design-to-fabrication and design-to-assembly collaboration has increased, along with the complexity of the PCBs.

“This was an ideal venue with ideal prospects,” said exhibitor Tom Carney, eastern regional sales manager for Prototron Circuits. “PCB East was a very pleasant surprise with both solid attendance and a high caliber of prospects. I specifically liked the fact that this show drew attendees from the immediate region and a majority of those folks were from the engineering community. This is also a very specialized show that focuses its traffic to those interested in PCB laminate, design, manufacturing, assembly and other related products.”

In addition to the exhibition, the weeklong technical conference catered to the needs of printed circuit engineers, designers, fabrication and quality personnel. By focusing on the needs of the engineer, PCB East addressed continuing education and offered timely solutions to the problems engineers face on a day-to-day basis.

The PCB Shows schedule for the remainder of 2009 includes; PCB West and PCB Atlanta. The next event is PCB West, September 14 – 18, 2009, at the Santa Clara Marriott. PCB Atlanta with tabletop exhibits and free technical sessions will be held October 22 in Alpharetta, GA.
