HELSINKI — Nokia Siemens Networks will lay off 1,250 employees in Finland and Germany as part of a previously announced cost-cutting plan. The cuts bring the total to 7,250 workers sacked since June 2006.

The job cuts include 750 employees in Finland and 500 in Germany. Modest cuts will be made elsewhere, the firm added.
The company also announced a management buyout is in place for its manufacturing site in Durach, Germany. The MBO could save up to 500 jobs.

Elsewehere, Nokia Siemens will layoff 50 workers in Egypt and 20 in the US, plus a relative handful more in unspecified other nations.
