PISCATAWAY, NJ– The co-founder and chairman of the board, emeritus at Intel Corp., Gordon E. Moore, will receive the IEEE Medal of Honor for his entrepreneurial and engineering contributions to the advancement of semiconductor technology.

Sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the award honors Moore’s technical leadership in several areas including the development of MOS memory, the microprocessor computer and the semiconductor industry. In addition, he will be celebrated for his role in the establishment of Fairchild Semiconductor, producers of the first practical ICs, and Intel Corp., producers of the first microprocessor.
