WASHINGTON, DC -- The Global Electronics Association reported continued strength in the North American electronics manufacturing services (EMS) market in April, with the industry’s book-to-bill ratio reaching 1.36.

Total EMS shipments increased 3.1% year-over-year in April, although they declined 6.5% from March levels. Year-to-date shipments were up 4.0% compared with the same period in 2025.

Bookings rose 4.6% year-over-year and increased 4.0% sequentially from March. Despite the monthly gain, year-to-date bookings were down 0.8% from the prior year period.

According to the association, EMS bookings have strengthened for two consecutive months while shipments remained above year-ago levels, indicating stable demand conditions across the sector.

A book-to-bill ratio above 1.00 suggests demand is exceeding current production output and is generally viewed as a positive indicator for sales growth over the next three to 12 months.
