LONDON, UK – Global PC shipments rebounded in 2025, but tightening memory and storage supply is expected to weigh on growth this year, according to new data from Omdia.
Worldwide shipments of desktops, notebooks and workstations reached 279.5 million units in 2025, up 9.2% year over year, supported by replacement demand and a stronger second half. Q4 shipments totaled 75 million units, representing 10.1% growth compared with the same period in 2024.
Notebook shipments accounted for the majority of volume, reaching 220.4 million units for the year, while desktop shipments climbed to 59 million units, posting 14.4% annual growth. Lenovo led the market with nearly 71 million units shipped, followed by HP at 57.4 million units and Dell at 41.9 million units. Apple recorded the fastest full-year growth among major vendors, expanding shipments by 16.4% to 27.7 million units.
Despite the strong performance in 2025, Omdia warned that supply-side pressures are intensifying. PC memory and storage costs rose between 40% and 70% during 2025, prompting vendors to pass higher costs on to customers. Omdia expects additional price increases in early 2026 as constrained supply continues.
With memory availability expected to remain tight, vendors are prioritizing higher-end configurations and reducing exposure to lower-margin systems. While demand remains healthy, actual shipment volumes this year will depend heavily on manufacturers’ procurement leverage and relationships with component suppliers, Omdia said.
