FRANKFURT, GERMANY – Despite a sharp decline in incoming orders in March, order backlogs of printed circuit board manufacturers in the Germany region were well above the long-term average, says ZVEI.
PCB manufacturers' sales in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland per working day in March exceeded the previous year by 6.7%. Cumulatively, the first quarter closed with sales growth of 6.7%, says ZVEI.
Orders were down 13.4% compared to March 2017. Cumulatively, the first three months were 1.2% lower, 0.4% higher per working day.
After four months over 1.0, the book-to-bill fell to 0.99. That means 99 euros worth of orders were received for every 100 euros worth of board shipments.
The number of employees was 2.7% higher than in the previous year, with small- and medium-sized companies offering more jobs, according to ZVEI.
