SAN JOSE, CA — North America-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted $1.79 billion in orders worldwide in July (three-month average basis), up 13.1% year-over-year and 4.7% sequentially, says SEMI.
The three-month average of worldwide billings was $1.71 billion, up 9.6% compared to July 2015, and down 0.6% sequentially.
The book-to-bill ratio was 1.05. A book-to-bill of 1.05 means $105 worth of orders was received for every $100 of product billed for the month.
"Monthly bookings have exceeded $1.7 billion for the past three months, with monthly billings trending in a similar manner,” said Denny McGuirk, president and CEO of SEMI. "Recent earnings announcements have indicated that strong purchasing activity by China and 3D NAND producers will continue in the near-term."
