BANGALORE, INDIA – The Indian Printed Circuit Association (IPCA) will form a partnership with Messe München International to produce electronicIndia 2008, at the Bangalore International Exhibition Center from September 2 to 5.

The agreement was signed by Manmeet Sabarwal, managing director of MMI India Pvt. and Anil Kumar, chairman of the IPCA executive committee. Messe München will organize the event, and is working to attract 100 exhibitors to the show.

Previously a trade show for the Indian PCB industry, the IPCA Expo will now be integrated into electronicIndia 2008 and housed in a separate pavilion. The show will feature technical seminars on EMS, automobile electronics and PCB technologies, and certification programs by the Electronics Designer Council of India. A meeting of the World Electronics Circuits Council (WECC) is also planned.

The organizers are expecting 20,000 visitors and business delegations from Germany, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, the USA and Europe.

TAIWAN â€• Printed circuit board makers in the region are basing production on the profit margin of PCB products, according to reports.

TAIWAN - Notebook and motherboard PCB shipments showed a slight increase last month, indicating a rebound for the second half of 2008.

Led by sales in Europe and China, four of Taiwan's largest motherboard makers, Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and ECS, all exceeded April’s second quarter forecasts.

Mobile phone PCB makers Compeq, Unimicron and Unitech, are predicting a 4% growth in Q2.

TAIWAN - Unimicron and Unitech will reportedly supply Canadian smart phone maker Research in Motion (RIM) with PCBs for its 3G Blackberry 9000, also called the Blackberry Bold, a product scheduled for release in June.

Other mobile phone PCB makers are reportedly seeing stronger orders for the third quarter. Industry reports indicate that PCB shipments will continue to increase into the second half of 2008.

KUALA LUMPUR - The Ibiden Co. of Japan will begin building its planned PCB manufacturing plant in Malaysia, according to a statement by the company.

WYLIE, TX - Global Innovation Corp. has selected Cimnet Systems to optimize its engineering operations.

According to Brad Peters, Global VP and CFO, "After years of using other systems and failing to achieve the desired results from people unfamiliar with the intricacies of our business, we chose Cimnet Systems because they understand us and what it takes to drive results in our industry."

The process will cover three phases: Phase 1 will focus on finance and job costing, Phase 2 will include capacity requirement planning and statistical process control, and Phase 3 will cover the automation of the company's quoting process using of iQuote software, and Engenix, a pre-production engineering application.
