BANNOCKBURN, ILIPC is requesting abstracts for the 2011 Apex/Expo technical conference in Las Vegas.

Presentations are sought on relevant design, PCB fabrication and electronics manufacturing topics. Submissions dealing with reliability, head-on-pillow and Pb-free repair and rework, as well as new research in growing areas such as photovoltaics and printed electronics, are especially encouraged for the Apr. 12–15 event. 

Three-hundred-word abstracts summarizing original and previously unpublished work covering case histories, research and discoveries are due July 16. 

Submissions should describe significant results from experiments, emphasize new techniques, discuss trends of interest, and contain a summary of the technical and/or appropriate test results in the final paper.

In addition, proposals are solicited for full-day and half-day professional development courses on design, printed board and electronics manufacturing processes and materials.

Awards will be presented for Best US Paper for US authors and Best International Paper for authors outside the US.

WESTPORT, CTCompass Diversified Holdings reported a first-quarter net loss of $15.3 million, compared to a net loss of $42.2 million for the same quarter in 2009. Sales were up 29% for the period ended March 31.

“We completed the acquisition of Circuit Express, a quickturn producer of printed circuit boards primarily for the aerospace and defense-related markets, which we believe is an excellent addition to Advanced Circuits,” said CEO Joe Massoud, adding that the deal is expected to be accretive.

As of Mar. 31, CODI had $22.1 million in cash and cash equivalents on hand, $75.5 million outstanding on its term debt facility, and $70.5 million outstanding under its $340 million revolving credit facility.

The company has no significant debt maturities until 2013.
