MUTTENZ, SWITZERLAND -- Clariant International has acquired Bayer Group's nano-silver ink technology platform for an undisclosed sum.

The deal includes comprises all patents, know-how and related materials. Bayer marketed the inks under the name Bayink.

"The acquisition will strengthen our portfolio of new materials for the electronics and energy markets," said Christian Kohlpaintner, a member of Clariant's executive committee.

Nano-silver inks are printable on various substrates like polymers, glas, or silicon, and are integral for printing electronics onto printed circuit boards, radio frequency identification devices (RFID) or photovoltaic panels.
