MIDLAND, MI -- Dow reported sales at its Electronic and Functional Materials business unit slid 8% year-over-year to $1.1 billion in third quarter.
The company's sales were hurt by a 5 percentage point drop in pricing and a 3 percentage drop in volume during the quarter ended Sept. 30.
The electronics sector continued to grow at a lower-than-forecasted rate, driving sales declines within Dow Electronic Materials, the company said. Semiconductor Technologies recorded flat sales, as a modest volume increase was offset by price declines. Interconnect Technologies sales -- which include the unit's printed circuit board customers -- decreased as a result of weak demand and pricing for metalization in all regions.
