TAIPEI -- Slower demand for printed circuit boards has foiled efforts by some major copper-clad laminate producers to raise prices in line with surging costs for copper.

With PCB sales expected to fall in the fourth quarter, CCL producers like Elite Material and Taiwan Union Technology have been forced to hold their prices.

The companies have been experiencing rising raw material costs as copper prices have risen nearly 10% over the past month.

Not all CCL providers have been affected. To-Tech Copper Foil and Nan Ya Plastics, to name two, reportedly have been raising copper foil prices by 5%, DigiTimes is reporting.
