TAIPEI -- Copper-clad laminate supplier Elite Material Co. plans to invest about NT$1.2 billion ($40 million) in a new fabrication plant in China, the company confirmed.
The plant is expected to have a capacity of 300,000 units per month when it comes online in 2014.
Elite currently has three CCL plants, one in Taiwan and two in China, and a monthly capacity of 2.3 million units. The company is one of the world's largest suppliers of halogen-free laminates (see table) according to research firm Prismark Partners, and was the world's ninth largest CCL supplier in 2010 with $426 million in sales.
