WUHAN, CHINA – Printed circuit board fabricator Meiko Electronics has suspended operations at its plant here because of issues related to environmental evaluations.

Meiko will resume operations upon completion of an improvement project, say published reports.

The firm did not disclose the reason for ceasing operations, but Taiwanese sources reportedly believe it is related to ongoing allegations of environmental pollution. Meiko's plants in Guangzhou and Wuhan were two of the plants listed as sources of industrial pollution issued by China-based non-governmental organizations in August.

Meiko is the world’s 15th largest PCB fabricator, according to the annual NTI-100. http://pcdandf.com/cms/component/content/article/237-2011-issues/8280-nti-100
