WALLINGFORD, CT – Amphenol Corp. reported third-quarter 2011 net income of $136.1 million, down a slight 2% compared to the same period in 2010.
Net sales for the quarter were $1.03 billion, up 8.6% year-over-year.
Net income for the first nine months of 2011 was $413.8 million, up 11.8% year-over-year.
Sales for the nine months ended Sept. 30 were nearly $3 billion, up 14.9% compared to the year-ago period.
Last month, the company incurred damage at its Sidney, NY, manufacturing facility as a result of severe flooding. In the third quarter, Amphenol recorded a charge of $13 million for property-related damage, as well as cleanup and repair efforts, net of expected insurance recoveries.
“The third-quarter results established new records of performance for Amphenol with sales of $1.033 billion. Sales growth of 9% over last year was driven primarily by strength in our mobile devices and automotive markets,” said Amphenol president and CEO R. Adam Norwitt.
The firm expects fourth-quarter revenues in the range of $920 million to $940 million. For 2011, Amphenol predicts revenues in the range of $3.912 billion to $3.932 billion.
Amphenol produces electronic and fiber optic connectors, cable and interconnect systems.
