RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA -- Arlon Electronic Materials reported first-quarter revenue rose 23.5% from last year to $22 million on higher demand for printed circuit board materials for telecommunications infrastructure in China.

The unit's operating income for the period ended March 31 was $2.1 million 2011, flat with 2010. Gross margin improved, primarily due to favorable product mix, the company said.

Arlon makes specialty laminates for PCBs.
