WALLINGFORD, CT -- Amphenol today reported first-quarter profits rose 30% to $128 million on broad-based demand for connectors and printed circuit boards.
For the period ended March 31, overall sales were up 22% year-over-year, driven by stronger demand for interconnect products, offset in part by slower broadband cable product sales. Cash flow from operations was $108 million.
The company's printed circuit board and connector business experienced strength across nearly all markets, led by mobile devices, industrial, automotive and military/aerospace. Sales for the segment rose 30.5% to $194 million. The operating margin was 19.8%, up 100 basis points from last year.
The company said it has not felt any ill effects from the Japan earthquake or tsunami.
Amphenol president and chief executive Adam Norwitt guided for second-quarter revenues of $985 million to $1 billion and full year revenues of $3.96 billion to $4 billion."
