ROGERS, CT -- Rogers Corp. reported third-quarter net earnings rose 28.5% to $8.9 million as the firm continued to benefit from strong printed circuit board demand.

Overall revenues rose 19.7% from the year-ago quarter to $101.3 million on higher laminate materials demand.

Laminate and related material sales rose 31% to $37.4 million on robust demand in the wireless infrastructure market as the pace of 3G and 4G systems deployments around the world accelerated. Defense applications and other markets also remained strong.

Gross margin was 36.4%, up 600 basis points from the third quarter 2009 on increased capacity utilization and improved operating leverage. Rogers' Printed Circuit Materials business will add capacity in its Suzhou facility in 2011. The first qualification samples are planned for early in the first quarter.

Rogers guided for fourth-quarter sales between $91 million and $96 million.
