SOUTH TYNESIDE, ENGLAND – The deadline is looming for former employees of Viasystems. The GMB, Britain’s general trade union, is looking for some 150 ex-employees who could be eligible to file compensation claims for lost earnings.

When the PCB manufacturer went into administration in 2001, the staff of over 800 workers received only a fraction of their redundancy cash. An eight-year court battle ensued, with the case due back in court this September. At that time, a ruling should be reached concerning the payouts.

The union sent letters to everyone affected but has not heard from some 150 who worked at the Longbenton and South Shields plants. Anyone who has not received a letter should contact the local GMB office.
