TUC Consents to Be Talc-less

CHANDLER, AZ – Isola Group and Taiwan Union Technology Corp. (TUC) have reached an agreement regarding claims of patent infringement.
 
In September, Isola filed an injunction against TUC, alleging the company’s TU-752 and TU-662 used talc, an infringement upon Isola’s US Patent Nos. 6,187,852 and 6,322,885.
 
TUC has agreed to the entry of a consent order by the US International Trade Commission (ITC). The main points include: The company has agreed to cooperate with the ITC’s investigation, initiated by Isola; It will not import or sell for importation any prepregs or laminates that infringe upon Isola’s talc patents; and TUC has waived its right to contest the validity of the ITC order.
 
TUC will also discontinue using talc as filler for TU-752 and TU-662.
 
“We are pleased to be able to bring closure to our original ITC complaint,” said Ray Sharpe, CEO. “We prevailed in our belief that Isola has a unique filler that the industry needs and respects.”
